Well I never had the Kaplan stuff. I signed up with Allen Resources (becos of the video tutorials I guess). Their explanation on Pension accounting was class. The explanation on Swaps, FRA and Derivatives rubbish.
Most of the time I just read the CFAI Textbook - yup it takes a heck of a lot of time, but with the exception of their explanation on the Macroeconomic model in Portfolio Theory (which was rubbish, much better to refer to the original guys i.e. Messers Burmeister i.e. the B in the BIRR model), the bulk of the reading was very well explained. Ok I'll exclude the CDS portion in the Derivaties, that was rubbish too, had to refer to (Kothari's Handbook on Securitization. Much better but a longer read)

Hopefully some monkeys wont be picking on me cos I used "becos" instead of because. These days, everybody wants to pick a bone with Wenger. Just make sure your a bigger doggy I always say.

Can Johor Fall?

Well, I've got about 25 mins to try and come out with a non Parpu based posting and what better way than to call into question the common wisdom that states BN in Johor is impregnable.

Lets cut to the chase and check out this graph

The bars in red refer to DUN's based on 2008 voter demographic that is less than 60% Malay. Further interesting reading is as follows: 18 of those seats have absolute non Malay majority.Of those 18 seats, the average Chinese population is about 55%, the minimum is 36%.

The interesting distribution, in fact the major peak is at the interval between 50% - 60% Malay. The average Chinese is about 38%, the average Indian is about 7%.

Ok so what does all of this mumbo jumbo mean.

The Chinese vote is actually much less fractured than the Malay or Indian vote for that matter. If indeed the tsunami hits Johor, we can expect something like 70% of Chinese voting for Pakatan, as a minimum. (This is what happened in 2008. But in 2012, we got some new thingy called Perkasa hooray!)

The seats then look something like this

The bars in red represent areas where 70% of the Chinese vote alone accounts for greater than 35% of the total vote. So in a place like Tangkak, 70% of the Chinese vote going to Pakatan means that in the bag Pakatan has 37% of the total vote. All they need to do is get another 13%, which is highly achievable for them to take the seat.

On the other hand, places like Semarang, Sedili and Pasir Raja have a high Malay representation, so 70% of the Chinese vote still means nothing.

The black line shows where the DUN majority lies.

Lets look at it in finer detail, all areas where Pakatan has in the bag 30% of the total electorate, by virtue of taking 70% of the Chinese vote.

What do we have. The DUNs in red are virtually in the bag for Pakatan. 12 DUNs in all.
There are a further 23 Duns where Pakatan is competitive because of the Chinese vote, but still not assured of victory. But in virtually all of these DUN's Pakatan has a base of at about 30% of the vote. So they are very competitive.

If Pakatan slams the initial 12, and wins 50-50 the above middle ground duns, then we get Pakatan with 12 + 0.5*23 = 23 seats in the Johor DUN. BN will have 33 seats.

So BN still retains with a slim 10 seat majority, prone to hopping of course.

Maybe not enough to take the Government, but that is assuming the rest of the seats work towards BN. And we are completely discounting PAS or PKR making in roads into the Malay dominated areas, which you never know.

Conclusion:
Well looking from a strict demographic view, it is certainly very easy for Pakatan to at least have 23 elected representatives in the Johor Assembly if the current polemic still continues. An absolute victory is still possible, they would just need to win an additional 5, and who knows, the Kluk Klek could deliver upsets of their own.

Dato Seri Tengku Azlan Sultan Abu Bakar is a fine gentleman

I am quite pissed that the younger brother of HRH Sultan of Pahang is being dragged into this September 16 story echoed by Zahrain PKR. I have met him before and I will state Dato Seri is a fine gentleman, a very very polite and humble man even though he is royalty.

I've met TS Muhiyiddin too (actually ive met a lot of people), and the difference in terms of personality between the ex-Deputy Minister of Transport and the current Deputy Prime Minister should be described in the "langit dengan bumi" terms.

Another guy who is a superb gentleman is Tan Sri Aseh (not politico but ex KDN boss). He is very polite. Top marks to him.

Won't comment about my mtgs with TDM. Just to say, it wasn't pleasant.

Some people have said it was a sad thing for TDM, a so called "statesman" who pays a Jewish lobbyist RM 5 million and at the same time decries the Israeli Government, to officiate Perkasa.

To me I consider it a perfect match. PERKASA is mahathir and Mahathir is Perkasa. The network that Perkasa is using is the Mahathir political network or the Maha's for short. Perkasa is the number 1 excuse provider for the Maha's to a) cease power once again b) absolve themselves of any responsibility they have in short changing the community and c) stay relevant in an increasingly globalist society.

For a moment,some say that Perkasa is the outsource arm for UMNO for the chest thumping and keris waving. Personally I do not see how on earth Perkasa is going to benefit UMNO, even though on paper you could say Perkasa can provide reasons to both the Malay and non-Malay community to vote Umno. Remember its on paper only.

In fact in reality, even that is a strech. Perkasa puts pressure on Umno to follow suit with its "agenda" and may even work to radicalise its members and convert them to 1Perkasa rather than 1Malaysia. You have to hand it to Ibramim Ali for this though - i don't think he spent anymore than perhaps a couple of hundred thousand dollars directly to set Perkasa up, but at the same time, it has had a far greater return on investment when compared with 1Malaysia. Ibrahim Ali correctly judged and exploited the situation. He is a smart guy.

But the question still remains - why is it that Maha wants to put his sign on Perkasa. What is it about Perkasa that Maha likes so much?

I guess its down to the hypocrisy. Perkasa like Maha is taking on a very jinggoist angle, claiming a lot of things without properly seing who is responsible for the solution and how best can it be rectified. Its a pure political animal, it has 0 long term benefit to any community and it was the perfect clear example of the fact that from Mahathir down, these Maha's want to always stir the extreme sentiments rather than change and move with the times.

MSC - An Orphaned Child Or a Waste of Money?

Did you notice something?

Well I didn't and that has to do with the quiet slumber party that characterizes the MSC. Originally the brain child of the 4th Prime Minister (who has since censored Wenger's comments), it was launched with much funfair around 1995 or 1996 or 1997. I myself do not know exactly when MSC was launched, and as usual I do not bother one bit.

Why?

Because the MSC to me is most irrelevant. We know it exists because we see the sign boards on the way to KLIA, we know it had cost a lot of money, we know it has a heck of lot of advisors (called the IAP), we know it continues to draw some Government budget but aside from that we just do not know what MSC does.

Oh yes - theres something called MDC. And between the MSC and the MDC, nobody would know they were connected because if you go to the MSC Website there is no single point to say what the heck it is. Instead they have cleverly created a separate tab for the Rakyat, for the Business and for the Government.

I know humbly request they create one additional tab called For the Critics.

But where do we start?

I guess it should be something called a Cost Benefit Exercise. We want to know exactly how much money was spent to develop the MSC, how much money the MSC, the MDC and all the other "C"s cost to operate and actually what is the success matrix used to determine whether or not all the C's added anything to the country.

We know all the C's cost something and that's "Cash".

Many supporters of that man seem to point and say without the MSC, we probably will still be using Pos Malaysia to send mail. Of course, his supporters were never known to be the smart type - so chuckle all you want.

I see the MSC as yet another evidence of a programme without any clear commercial benefit, does not leverage of Malaysia's unique talent pool and really just another excuse for the PR/Ad hiphop joes to get business.

Which is an indictment of the Founder of the MSC. He is as clueless when it comes to investing in motorcycle companies as it is when intending to develop the new economy.

Contrast this billion dollar baby with the situation in South Africa. South Africa is perhaps one of the most technologically innovative and independent countries, South Africans have been behind some major home runners in the world of High Tech - VeriSign and the Ubuntu Linux distro being some examples, their engineers are highly sought out throughout the world and guess what, they did not have any MSC.

Take the example of the Ubuntu Linux Distribution. Linux was an operating system originally developed by a Finnish Uni student called Linus Torvalds as non-commercial replacement for MINIX which eventually became the Linux kernel (kernel to sama dengan Water cooled engine for the MV Augusta fanatics, difference is nobody needed to be exposed to an RM 1 billion risk for that technology.) Ok whats MINIX - MINIX is an inexpensive version for UNIX. And whats UNIX - Unix is the code that is used to run computers. However, most of the computers today run Windows and not Unix because of the commercial genius of Bill Gates in teaming up with Intel.)

If you've not confused as the "IX"es, then we can continue.

So after this Linus student joker went and created Linux, he released the code free of charge. Of course, there is so much new stuff that needs to be done because computer technology keeps on changing, and people around the world began enhancing and localizing Linux, adding new features to match the functions produced by Microsoft.

Which is interesting by itself. Microsoft is a several hundred billion dollar firms, their employees are richly rewarded (don't know about Microsoft Malaysia - the last time I checked they don't even carry the same corporate name card), and they have a virtual monopoly with the hardware vendors. So its very strange that a couple of nerds in a basement spread all througout the world could come up with something.

But they did. Linux is now very much favoured to run the big machines in data centres called Servers and a certain South African chap called Mark_Shuttleworth decided to "glokalize" this new Linux technology. By the way he did not need to buy Lotus for that, he just tapped the resources of the South African technologists he knew of together with other developers connected all throughout the world.

And the product of this development was a version of Linux called Ubuntu.

The name Ubuntu itself is based on Ubuntu is an ethic or humanist philosophy focusing on people's allegiances and relations with each other. The word has its origin in the Bantu languages of southern Africa. Ubuntu is seen as a classical African concept.^[1] The Ubuntu operating system was named for this principle

The clear principle is that of ethics. That means this guy developed the program in an ethical manner, meaning his boys will make an effort to code properly, test it and release it for free.

Which also means no way could Ubuntu model work in Malaysia.
Ethics had been swept aside before the turn of this new century. Its perhaps difficult to find a single ethical business man around.

Anyhow, this program was a success. In fact it was so successful that it was mentioned in the New York Times recently

Created just over four years ago, Ubuntu (pronounced oo-BOON-too) has emerged as the fastest-growing and most celebrated version of the Linux operating system, which competes with Windows primarily through its low, low price: $0.

More than 10 million people are estimated to run Ubuntu today, and they represent a threat to Microsoft’s hegemony in developed countries and perhaps even more so in those regions catching up to the technology revolution.

So what do we have here?

An African country that for years was crippled by apartheid, adopted free market, elected a visionary leader, did not require to throw billions of dollars into a project called MSC and developed a product that can take on the flagship products of the largest technology company in the world. They even displayed a huge amount of patriotism with the founder, even-though an Afrikaner, decided to name his product based on black African culture.

Contrast this with the "great success" of the MSC.

But then those fan boys will contend, surely the MSC has been mentioned in the New York Times.

And yes they were correct.

The meeting, however, was far from routine -- either in its lush tropical setting or in the object of the corporate kudos: Mahathir Mohamad.

Dr. Mahathir, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, has been engaged in the fight of his life over the last year. As the Asian economic crisis tore through this normally tranquil country, Dr. Mahathir, 73, imposed widely criticized controls on Malaysia's capital markets, vilified foreigners for causing Asia's misery, and imprisoned his popular former deputy, Anwar Ibrahim.

Many people here feared that the furor would doom Dr. Mahathir's ambitious vision to make Malaysia the technology lodestar of Asia. The Prime Minister's actions baffled some members of the panel of foreign executives that advises him on his flagship project, the Multimedia Super Corridor. The project, which was started in 1996, officially opened Thursday and is expected to take two decades to complete.

If the three-day meeting in honor of the opening did not quite dispel the manyfears, it provided a much-needed psychic boost.

At that time, I think a Pentium III running 300 MHz on Windows 98 SE was the flagship product. Right now, we can get laptops with Pentium Dual Cores running 3 Ghz on Windows 7.

All together there were 89 entries on the New York Times referring to the MSC. Most of it would be the pro Maha's lecturing the West.

But lets face the facts. The West was spot on.
What actually has the MSC achieved?

And the question we ask is: Why?

Why is it that every single project initiated by the Government seems to fail.

Time we upgrade the Engine in the Government

To me the answer lies in the Operating system used by the Government. Where else the rest of the world moves progressively towards the future, our Government, under the wise tutelage of the 4th Prime Minister forces all the employees to utilize the Operating System released by Biro Tata Negara or BTN.

This O/S is outdated, low technology and even our current Government Ministers has gone on record to call it "racist." The products of this O/S can be seen in the thinking of bloggers like MarahKu, Parpukari, Chedet, Big Dog and a host of others. The only technology they have running is based on race and what Dr. Mahahtir says.

Of course, he can and try and expand his ideas by roping in a lot of business people from the major software firms to give him "advice." But as he had once said, sometimes the role of the "advisor" is to take "advice"; especially if the "advisors" have ulterior motives like using the MSC as an excuse to sell their products and services.

Its not everyday that a KJ Supporter can force Tun to admit his mistake but I, Wenger J Khairy disguised as the Repoman had done so. Its a small step as all I did was to correct Tuns blatant mistake when he wrongly classified a Repo transaction as being referred to as Repo 150 when in fact it was Repo 105.

We hope that with this small step, Tun can take further steps to confront some of his mistakes made in the past and to do the right thing. I need not specify it, I believes he himself knows it.

Maybe all it takes is a Repoman to tell him in a polite and nice manner.

Khairy denies 1 Malaysia links with 1 Israel

KUALA LUMPUR, March 18 — Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin (picture) has denied that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 1 Malaysia slogan is a carbon copy of a slogan called “1 Israel” devised for the Jewish state.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had yesterday linked Najib’s 1 Malaysia campaign to the other campaign, pushing a sensitive point in a country opposed to the Zionist regime.
During a Parliamentary debate, the Opposition Leader had claimed Najib’s image consultants, Apco Worldwide, were led by Israelis who worked on former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak’s campaign called “1 Israel”.

Today, during a verbal altercation in Parliament with DAP leader Lim Kit Siang, Khairy claimed that Apco had released a statement that “proved” Anwar’s claims as lies.
Lim said that Najib was “losing the fight” for 1 Malaysia because his staff did not believe in the concept.
Khairy then read out a statement released by Apco which absolved the firm from any connection with 1 Israel.
“Contrary to statements made in Parliament, the 1 Malaysia concept was conceived by Prime Minister Najib Razak prior to Apco’s engagement.”
“At no time was Apco involved in 1 Israel’s campaign with Ehud Barak,” said Khairy when reading out the statement.
Earlier, Lim claimed he had proposed a parliamentary select committee to discuss the concept of 1 Malaysia, which was under serious threat due to racism practiced by government officials.
Examples of the supposed racism were cited and included the BTN and Umno executive secretary Datuk Rauf Yusoh’s remarks that were allegedly made during an Umno function in London.
“Is the prime minister educating his ministers to understand the 1 Malaysia concept? Is he seriously committed in the concept of 1 Malaysia?” said Lim.

Later on, Khairy led a press conference outside Parliament where he distributed the official statement from Apco which is also available on their website.

Khairy also said that although legal action could not be taken against Anwar because he had said it in Parliament, Anwar could still be referred to the Rights and Privileges Committee.

“We have to check. Normally it has to be referred immediately, but the Government can still refer to the Committee,” he added.

Mereka semua mendabik dada mendakwa "Annne in caritah manyak bagus". Lalu Parpukari telah terjermalah blog ni.

Aku nak kutuk blog ni pun tak larat.

I got this note from one of my readers and perhaps its a good point for me to sketch my views of the economy.

This is very much an off the cuff view. I had done some analysis of our economy, but to the extent that I would want to share it ( requires more time). So a lot of what I'm gonna say is my "ASSumption"

21st Century Economy
I think many people are still confused how on earth can we not be the masters of our economic destiny. After all when we were in school, we were kept bombarded with words like "Economic Miracle", "Tiger Economy" and "Malaysia Boleh." We so called "proudly" launched projects as diverse as building our own car to putting a man in space.

And by and large most Malaysians do work hard. They wake up early and come home late. Furthermore, we don't have strikes and pickets which the "evil" west has.

To cap it off, Malaysians are savers. We are being told that we save a lot to the extent that sometimes our leaders have to encourage us to spend.

So then why should a person suddenly be forced to come out with a statement like that.

The answer is - We Have Always Been Told a Lie.

I think really what keeps me going is debunking these lies one by one. I stopped trusting the "lies" sprouted by a certain person the moment I began to see small holes appear. Later on these holes were so big you could drive an A380 through those.

People must realize one thing - the world has changed significantly over the last 20 years. In 1991, when the Cold War had just come to an end., Europe was still in sort of a mess as the ex-Soviet Bloc countries had to require massive restructuring to integrate into the European Union's market economy. At the same time, the Nikkei was something like 30,000, I believe the Yen Dollar was around 80 - 90 ¥ to the dollar.

What this means is that Japan was flush with "artificial wealth." Money poured easily into countries in the South East Asia, the certain person maintained a column in the Mainchi Shimbun or something like that, our currency was about RM 2.5 to the US dollar and life was going great.

But really, if you look at it, life was great because of all this foreign money coming into the country in terms of FDI. They propped up the stock market, they kept the Ringgit strong and they created jobs.

Now 20 years later, Japan is in this perpetual depression and the new money is not coming into Malaysia. It stopped coming in the moment we said "Capital Controls Rock" and refused to take a lot of hard restructuring required.

What is the hard restructuring?

I think at the very base it will require making people accountable for their actions. Today nobody is accountable for anything - and it seems some mysterious pool of money is created to support every single misadventure with the results being chalked to a learning experience.

Other restructuring involves thinsg like the Education system. The issue we face is that the "uneducated" are the ones making most of the noise when anybody suggests an improvement to the system. So the "uneducated" will shout and scream at the same time as our universities slip down the road.

The last issue has to do with the judiciary. I think recently a landmark case involving some property rites story was overturned. Great. Today we admit it was a mistake. But for the last 10-15 years, foreigners knew it was a mistake and found such kinds of decisions as adding to something called "country risk."

So there we have it. A culture not geared for accountability, a fiscal policy that praises "Capital Controls" over market based approach, endless digressions into other matters when discussing education performance and so this is the result.

The ringgit trading at 3.30 ish , FDI at record low levels, a cost of living increase that we all feel but which is denied by the CPI tracked by Bank Negara, low salaries and a GDP growth rate that really cannot make sense to the average man on the street.

Oh ya - our public sector debt at RM 522 billion. You will hear more about this.

How to Solve the Problem

All the things I have listed are national level problems. There is nothing an individual YB can do at the parliamentary level to solve this.

If I were elected PM tomorrow, this is what I will do to solve this issue

Formulate and pass through a race relations act that sets in clear print what a person may or may not say or do and the punishment for breaking it. Once I do that, I will not need to worry as PM everytime somebody says something stupid. I'll just let the cops deal with it
I will cut the civil service by 50%. I will offer all Civil Servants who are to be made redundant an option for some sort of work training/ re-education. I will fund this using a special fund of RM 50 billion specially for this purpose. I will put in place certain investments in setting up the infrastructure for business opportunities for those about to be axed. And it will be marked clearly "LAST CHANCE SALOON." This will save the Government approximately RM 20 billion a year.
I will reassess personal and company tax declaration made in the last 7 years. I will check everybody whose name is registered as the owner of a car worth RM 150,000 and above or property worth RM 600,000. I will be able to raise a minimum of about RM 10 - 20 billion from this exercise.
I will restructure all the VCs in the local universities to include only those who have had some significant contribution to academia. I will put a clear benchmark - improve the standing by 1 standard deviation form the base or have the contract not renewed. Technical University Education will be the a big priority. This will give the necessary talent to do the jobs of tomorrow.
I, Prime Minister Wenger will lead a trade delegation to China and the UK. I should be able to raise approximately RM 200 billion per trip in terms of new FDI.
I will restructure the health services to incorporate an element for a National Level Health Benefit Scheme.

So thats how u solve the problem. QED. Vote Wenger for PM!

Dr M's U-turn as STT buys into U Mobile

Ex-PM who nixed previous telco deals sings a new tune

SINGAPORE Technologies Telemedia (ST Telemedia or STT) has entered into definitive agreements to acquire 33 per cent of Malaysia's smallest mobile phone operator, U Mobile Sdn Bhd, for more than RM1 billion (S$421 million) including its portion in a proposed rights issue.

Getting ST Telemedia to replace U Mobile's former partners NTT DoCoMo and KT Freetel is seen as a major coup for its controlling shareholder Vincent Tan Chee Yioun, one made all the sweeter because of the support of former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad - the man who scuppered a similar proposal between Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) and the then politically connected Time dotcom in 2000 on grounds of 'national security'.

There were concerns that SingTel might 'sing and tell', he famously quipped of the Temasek Holdings subsidiary, but only half in jest. ST Telemedia is also owned by Temasek, but is unlisted.
Whether he had changed his views over the past decade, regretted the missed opportunity which left Time dotcom floundering for years, or merely feels it is time to move on, Dr Mahathir gamely witnessed the signing via video conference from London.

Perhaps Mr Tan's close association with him also factored in the equation.

Parpu and Anti KJ yesterday bit the bait as well.

I think people should understand everything Wenger says is designed for a reaction. And my principle belief is that there is no such thing as bad advertisement.

Yesterday I purposely worded a rather teasing response to Marahku's comment box. Remember this is the guy who is perpetually angry.

Lets see what happened

A while back I put up a post titled Why so many people find Khairy loathsome, in it I asked everyone to come up with just one of KJ's positive contribution towards his party, his people, his country and Islam.

Guess what? his top paid cybertrooper, Wenger J Khairy was the first to come forward and bravely suggested that Malaysia's SEA Games gold medal for football was KJ's doing. We all laughed and laughed.... Of course we know that Malaysia won because the opposition made a fatal mistake of scoring an own goal - maybe Wenger is suggesting that KJ is an own-goal specialist.... it certainly sounded true to the original posting...

now many moons later.... I got another submission from Wenger...

this time he wants to share his boss's latest achievement....going to the PM's tea party despite having a fever....

Wenger thinks this is the height of heroism and for this KJ deserves a cabinet decision.... Apparently...

I fell off my chair and is now looking for someone to redo my split sides... tears of mirth are still rolling down my cheek and I am still giddy with laughter..

thank you Wenger....you really scrapped the bottom of the barrel there, I can taste the oak man... you gave me a woody... ha ha ha

anyway, to make it easier for my readers to see Wenger contribution to the world of comedy I have reposted his comment and my response below.

BTW ... in that original posting I did suggest that someone who takes 10 steps and fall down with ever step is a comedian or a clown - just look at Mr BEan, Charlie Chaplin et al and you get what I mean

I'm pleased to report that KJFC is now 9,600. Soon we have the magical 10,000. Parpu 5 bellies was defeated heavily in a blog war over the last 48 hours, to the extent an amoi had to scold him very badly Parpu Kena Soun.

In the same breath I am pleased to report that the vibes we are getting are very good indeed. KJ managed to grace the PM's tea party even though he was suffering a fever! The guy is a real fighter - what a man.

Lot10 like anyother commercial real estate is highly sensitive to unhedged interest rates.

I would seek your indulgence to maintain this thread till 2020 which we project will be long enough for our countries dreams of having an educated young dynamic highest leader to be realized.

But first lets keep our fingers crossed as to the upcoming cabinet reshuffle. I've a good feeling....

I am so proud of him as he walked into the party, present in hand... oh how they cheered him on

his friends hugged him tight, mothers cried and fathers bit their upper lip, fighting back the tidal wave of emotion

But my son is better than KJ because he is only nine and already has that 'fighting to go to the party despite a fever' spirit and he does not telll his friends to employ multiple fake identitites to humiliate his enemies on facebootk, twitter and the blogs

Well all I did was to write 150 words. And I got was a 2,000 word response from MarahKu, a newspaper columnist. Thats like a return of more than 800%.I just bought free ad time!

In fact, the man with the perpetual hot flash was so tickled he went and wrote this on Big Dog's blog

Yes he got so excited he had to report it to Big Dog.
(Big Dog was as usual trying to find some race based postings , and to his credit did not comment. Btw, Big Dog and Chedet have banned me from their blogs because out of fear of the power of Wenger)

But lets go and look at things in greater detail...

We all know that MarahKu is "quirky" to say the least. The man is a sworn anti khairy with very little reason. It seems he threw a question where we had to prove to him what KJ has done to win his approval.

The last I checked his designation was a writer in some newspaper. I never knew that he was also moonlighting as the Prime Minister.

This really reflects the mentality of the Anti Khairys. They will make it a point that KJ must prove his credibility to them. KJ must win their approval. Only if KJ wins their approval will they agree to appoint KJ as Minister.

This is precisely the reason why Dato Mukhriz lost the KP race, because DM sought approval only from a group of bloggers. And I admit, DM was strongly approved by the likes of Big Dog, JMD, Marahku, Rocky, Barking Magpie, Tunku Aisha, Piggy Singh, Detguaq, Parpukari and a whole host of other minnion blogs. Pro Khairy bloggers were definitely outnumbered.

But I think the difference is whilst KJ as a candidate did not win the most support from the bloggers, he in fact won the most support from the delegates. And thats why he won.

But I still like to play games with this group. Everybody knows these people are the worst type, I even know of the identity of one of those group who insisted "KJ leave on the grounds of restoring unity to the party."

But what game did I intend to play?

A simple one - just add more exposure. If we compare the exposure given to all youth leaders, nobody comes close to the exposure on KJ.

The bottom line is these anti Khairys are just a few group, but unfortunately most have been paid to start blogs hammering KJ. They took a lot of money and now they have nothing to show.

The Khairy Chronicles: Chapter 1 Cabinet to Save Malaysia

In the year 2020, which is only about 10 years away, we will be facing one of the most challenging episodes in not only our local economy but in the global economy as well. The decisions made over the last couple of years, that saw an explosion in the debt of most OECD countries would definitely have had a significant impact in the value of the US Dollar and the movement of global trade.

Against this backdrop, Malaysia is finding itself in an extremely tough situation. After suffering through 5 years of Opposition rule, Barisan Nasional led by its youngest President, took back the mantle of the Government from Pakatan Rakyat and found itself in the unenviable position of trying to rescue a country that is on the verge of meltdown. The Government's public sector debt had shot past the RM 1 trillion mark, and the ringgit is trading at RM 4.60 to the US Dollar, and RM 5.50 to the Singapore dollar and RM 0.36 to the Thai Bhat. The regional economies of Thailand and Indonesia has spurred ahead with the Thai Bhat trading at 13 Thai Bhat to the US Dollar and the Rp 3,500 to the US dollar as well.

China is dominating the Asian economy and Taiwan had reunified with China a couple of years back. The US is in an economic depression as currency has been debased against most regional currencies, with 1 Euro buying USD 2.20 and 1 USD only buying 50 Yen.

Malaysia which had failed to institute proper policies under the rule of Pakatan Rakyat suffered a massive capital flight and attempted to institute capital controls once again in 2017. However, the export industry had been on the wane for the last 10 years, and could not find new markets for their products and services. The prized new convention centre for MITI laid bare as investors shunned the nation. Food and oil was in shortage and the Pakatan Rakyat Government was frequently bickering and did not manage to do a single good thing.

In 2019, a General Election was called. Now 43 years old, a young Dato Seri Khairy Jamaluddin led Barisan Nasional to one of its greatest election victories to date promising a solution to the rot that had set in. They won all the states and commanded 90% of the seats in the parliament.

After taking the oath of office in National Palace, Dato Seri Khairy proceeded to assemble his Cabinet to Save Malaysia. I was called out of semi retirement, and asked to head the all powerful Ministry of Finance with supervisory capabilities across many of the other Ministries.

This my recollection of what had transpired during those days

I was shocked.

I had been following the economy regularly for the past 10 years but was shocked to learn of the extent of the damage left by the DAP and their PAS acolytes. We had just been 1 month into our administration when he had to redeem approximately RM 160 billion worth of bonds which had been entered into by the previous Government on a short maturity basis. Globally the financial markets were horrible, and to refund this debt we could not rely on the domestic banks (dominated by the Pakatan folk) and had to go to the international market.

My first job as Finance Minister was to fly to Beijing to try and sell our debt. It was a tense affair and I had goosebumps in my stomach. I was so angry that our beloved country had to come down to this level. We had to secure $USD 34 billion in financing immediately or print more money and tank the ringgit. The financial markets domestically was still in flux with the short term MGB Government bond rate yielding 8%. The Long Term curve however was only 7% I knew the markets were telling me something - "It looks like shite right now, but the markets were factoring a recovery under Dato Seri Khairy." I told my aid, Salim Rajagopal.

But to borrow at 8% on a short term basis was out of the question. We would have to pay approximately an additional USD $3 billion in Interest this year alone.

I travlled on RMAF 2, arrived in Beijing and as per my instruction went straight to the hotel to freshen up with my first meeting with the Chinese Premier scheduled at 7.00 pm that same day. During that time, we talked about a lot of things, and I could sense that the Chinese wanted to reassure us that they will help whichever way they could. The DAP Chauvinists had misjudged the Chinese during their time in Government. They thought that the Chinese Government would be behind them, however their Finance Minister Tony Pua was just rebuffed time and time again.

Well I have to make a confession. Half of the senior Chinese politburo were my friends in Stanford, they saw through the DAP and had nothing to do with them.

But there had been a change in Government in China as well. Some of my old contacts were not there anymore.

But when I met the Chinese Premier, I did not talk business. Our discussion was centred really about KJ. The Chinese were quite eager to find out more about the Prime Minister. I told them what they needed to hear.
The meeting adjourned to dinner, and I hit the sack at about 11:00 pm.

The next day was the deal day. I had assembled some of my ranking Lieutenants who had served me in my private market days and now were in a position to pay back those favours. I entered the Hall of Presidence and Tranquility on the 101st Floor of the Beijing Imperial Tower, instructed the meeting room to be void of anybody whom I had not known and proceeded to deliver the following statement.

"KJ Expects That You Will Do Your Duty."

It was the shortest investment pitch ever in the history of the financial markets

In the 5 hours, we managed to secure all manner of financing deals, most of them intelligently crafted to include options like repayment in ringgit, calls, puts, derivatives and all manners of fixed income deals to get the 34 billion required.

Our average interest rate: 6% for 3 years. I had just saved the KJ Government between 5-7 billion US Dollars.

Mission accomplished, I took the limousine and went straight to the airport. I had briefed the Prime Minister after the deal was secured and he expected back at work the next morning.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill will not be tabled for the second reading when Parliament sits tomorrow.

Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah said the Government needed more time to gather feedback from the rakyat.

“We want the public’s opinion on the GST,” Husni told reporters after opening the Kuala Lumpur Malay Chamber of Commerce’s annual general meeting yesterday.

The Bill was first tabled in Parliament last December.

On when it would be tabled, Husni said: “It will depend on our engagement with the public and acceptance of the rakyat on its implementation.

“We do not want to put a time frame on that.”

A couple of days ago, the dnightcaller had asked my opinion on the GST bill and I was uneqoivical in denouncing the measure as being described in the following :-

PS Nightcaller: To me GST is another product of a person who has 0 knowledge of practical finance and economics in the Malaysian context. Its the worst decision and will provide a Raya, Deepavali, Christmas and Chinese New Year bonanza for the Opposition. You guys are lucky!"

Today it came as no surprise that the GST bill was effectively killed until BN can secure a super strong mandate from the election. Even after that, the premise of putting a GST based tax is ridicolous in Malaysia because I Wenger J Khairy say so. The government should stop making policy decisions outside what I dictate as being right.

In the case of GST I have been consistently opposed to it. Why?

Investment to set up and monitor GST collection is very high and people wont do it
As it is companies are faxing on the standard income tax, why wont they fake on the GST
No clear definition on how business to business transactions will be taxed. If those are taxed at GST then we will get massive inflation.
Benefit of collecting an extra billion or so will be offset by the cost
Programme was poorly crafted

So rather than promise to implement something only to back out of it, the Government must have a clear set of policies and implement according to it. But what policies?

Aaah taht these the problem. They asked McKinseh and see what happened? They should just ask Wenger and I'll lay it out. No need for NEM and all of that. Just follow WENOM.

I have to apologize for not having updated this blog for a couple of days. Unfortunately, I had stumbled on Gopal Raj Kumar's website and was feeling unwell after reading his excessive pro Mahathirisms.

Anyhow, I had noticed a great deal of talk on the new this so called new economic model. Personally I cannot understand how the Government of Malaysia can come out with any model without referring to me. If I am not involved I can guarantee you whatever that is proposed will never work, or is designed not to work in the first place.

Furthermore we do not live in a commie state. If we adopt capitalism free market should dictate the movement of wealth. Ibrahim Ali says that free market is not good and discriminates against the Malay. Actually I do agree with the spirit of what he is saying, but what he is not offering any solution. I think Dato Sak clearly revealed his true intentions.

But how do the Malays actually become richer. That is a fundamental question and many people have attempted their own theories. I think the bottom line is we have 2 lines of thought

AI did not have a chance to implement his creative destruction policy so we really can't know whether it will work. However, Dr Mahathir did have 22 years to implement Mahathirsm so we can now summarize his achievements

National debt of RM 522 billion
Ringgit at a lower by 30% against the US Dollar and by more than 50% against Singapore Dollar
Education competitiveness that is completely destroyed
A lack of ability to attract new FDI. In 1970s we could attract some of the hottest new companies in the world to open up shop in Malaysia.
Malays still left behind
Dato Mukhriz is the Deputy Minister in charge of MITI

So unless we can be proud of achievement number 5, Mahathirism is an utter failure.

So we have to now turn to a new approach. I call it Wengers New Economic Model or WENOM.

The difference between Mahathirsm and Anwarism and Najib-o-nomics is that WENOM is actually based on reality. That means what I postulae under WENOM is completely 100% fact based.

WENOM will be developed on a module based approach so that all those loyal followers of Wenger J Khairy and proud supporters of Tn. Hj YB KJ can follow step by step. We will cover a lot with WENOM, including things like what is the New World Financial System and how WENOM fits in it.

But the starting point is this to understand what is meant by Cost, Risk and Benefit. This is the fundamental module to understand all economic matters.

Lets get cracking

What is Cost, Benefit and Risk?

Well its quite simple really. It always starts with the

Benefit - what is it you want to achieve.
Then how much does it cost to achieve it
and lastly whats the risk that even after you pay the cost, you wont achieve your target.

But what is risk? Risk really means that the chances in the future, after you make the decision, things dont turn out to plan. Like for example, what is the chance that Zambry can be returned as MB in free election in Perak. About 2%. So what is the risk of Zambry screwing up the whole BN Machinery in Perak - well thats (1-2% = 98%).

So you can define risk by looking at a set of desired or screwed up situations. You calculate the probability of those things happenings and you get a number. If the chances of bad thing happening is greater than 30%, means this is very risky. In the case of Zambry - its almost like a certainty.

So risk is a probability of screwed up situations that will not allow u to enjoy the benefit. Remember, its a projection into the future...

Yes that is the entire rationale behind modern day finance - but it seems the supporters of that man Mahathir cannot understand this simple concept.

For example lets look at almost every single Mahathir plan.

We start with Proton. What was the benefit Mahathir wanted to achieve?

Political hegemony
Some strange economic benefit

I say 2 is some strange economic benefit because in truth Proton is a major drain on the country. But more on that later. Lets go to 1 - Mahathir wanted to show that he can produce a car and he was the man. Proton, I repeat is a pure political exercise by Mahathir - it has 0 economic benefit to the country, in fact its a major cost to the country. But back in 1985, Malaysians were very primitive and could not understand the finer points of globalization and trade specialization. They lapped it up - when in fact the original protons were nothing more than Mitsubishi CKDs.

And the rakyat lapped it up - Dr Mahathir won the 86 General Election. In 1987, he should have lost the President Election but the lights tripped and the whole country got screwed for another 20+ years. We should really be pissed at the electrician in PWTC!

Anyhow - we see the benefit is solely for Dr Mahahtir. Now we go on the cost. What is the cost of setting up Proton. Well a heck of lot of money - off hand I won't know cos I'm too lazy to dig out the AR from Proton (those guys don bother to put things in nice XLS format) but safely we can assume it was between RM 1 - 2 billion in todays terms.. This money was used to buy equipment from Japan and inventory from Japan as well.

But that alone was not the cost. Mahathir had to ensure that Proton was a 100% commercial success (for the company) so he went along and slapped punitive tarrifs on the foreign cars. So now, prices in the domestic market rose significantly to the extent it is common place knowledge you can get a better quality Proton in the overseas market and at a cheaper price. So Mahathir was screwing the entire country, something he does all the time because by and large people buy into his race rhetorics.

But really what was the cost of Proton

I quote from myself in The Rembau Times

How much is the cost of the tarriff.
A high tariff results in higher cost for imports as well as a higher cost for domestically produced goods. For the case of Proton Berhad, it manufacturers a wide variety of cars, and the prices range from RM 33,000 to RM 100,000.

The prices are prohibitively high, and most people are forced into obtaining bank loans to fund their purchase of the car. Imported cars are of course a non-question as the tarriffs make it even more expensive.

Right now the total amount of bank loans on car purchases are RM 100 billion.

Due to the emergence of the Internet, many complain that for the same amount of money spent on buying a Proton car, one could obtain a good of perceived superior value. Or in the case of the poor, they could perhaps obtain a similar car at a cheaper price.

A back of envelope calculation, taking into current demand, seems to indicate that if car prices were 25% cheaper without this tarriff, households would RM 8 billion better off last year. Over the last 3 years, the sum was RM 21 billion.

I do not know how much consumers would be better off over the last 24 years. However I am quite sure it will be more than the RM 3 billion of property Proton currently owns.

If there had been no tariffs, consumers would not need to pay so much money. They would also need to be encumbered by such huge loans. As it stands now, on average every man, woman and child, owes RM 4,000 on account of a car.

I actually had a data table somewhere, but the gist is this. If today you have a loan collateralized by a car, where the cost of the car is inflated so as to ensure Mahathir's political longetivity, you are essentially overpaying that premium and are absorbing the cost. A year this works out to about RM 8 billion. If use a arithmetic progression (AP), with 0 in 1985 and assume 20 years, this cost works out to about RM 100 billion.

That money could have been spent to fund food programmes for the MRSM students, upgrade the facilities in the schools and universities, but now the cost is paid by the rakyat to ensure that Mahathir could become PM for additional 20 years. So in a way, we can say that if MRSM students are not enjoying food or water supply, they have a right to blame Dr. Mahathir. I think there is quite a lot of basis in that.

What was the Risk

The risk of setting up Proton was huge. Without domestic protection, Proton would fail. Even today if the APs and tarriffs are removed, Proton will fail. Proton has had CEOs who are complete morons and do not even know how to value a company. Under this idiot they launched Proton Tiara which was a failure, Proton Juara which was a joke , bought Lotus without really any return on investment and the best of all - they invested RM 300 million in secondary shares and assumed almost RM 500 million worth of debt from a bankrupt compabny. So don't blame the Japanese for being good or having a head start, Mahahtir surrounds himself with incompetents and so even if the Japs started producing cars in 1985, we still will not be able to compete because Mahahtir hates smart people. So the Proton business model is a failure from start - I think he himself knows it.

Risk Mitigation

Even when confronted with risky decisions, we can take steps to "lay off the risk". What we learn in Quantitative Finance is that you cannot destroy systematic risk. To "lay off the risk" is like to pass the ball - you pulak yg tanggung. Mahahtir created a very risky project to save himself and then transferred the risk to 2 generations of Malaysians. Thats why I despise him to the core - this man is very smart, but he takes advantage of most of the Malaysians gullibility.

And the systematic risk in the Proton project example is the following

Technology backwardness of Malaysia
Top Management that is incompetent
Declining standards in technical education
No economies of scale
Project is failure in business model
Mahahtir

So the risk is huge. But what Mahathir did was to "lay off the risk" to the people. Proton will not assume the risk of its failure. The people, i.e. you and me will do so. He did this by

Enforcing huge tarriffs on foreign cars
Using ISA to imprison people who criticize him
Make sure no newspaper editor will write anything bad about Proton

So essentially Dr. Mahathir just mitigated risk point no 5. By doing this, Proton will register a profit. The other risks are completely ignored. For example in 2003, Proton CEO bought 51% common equity of a bankupt company for RM 350 million,

I hope you get the point

Benefit - Achieved or Not

So now we have made the decision. We screwed the rakyat. We implemented Proton. We took notice of all the risks but we only sorted one of them out.

So 20 yrs later - did we achieve the desired benefit. Was the cost paid greater or less than the benefit received.

Well of course not. The benefit received was far superior. That man Mahathir could stay on as PM for an additional 20 years. He was the sole stakeholder in this plan. Proton was just meant to sustain his Prime Minister position. The RM 100 billion borne by the rakyat, the endless billions spent monthly to fix everything from faulty power windows to auto gear boxes is borne by the rakyat.

Extending the Cost, Benefit Risk

But now the rakyat is smarter. In fact they are very smart. They know not to trust all these politicians. We can similiarly extend this Cost, Benefit Risk to another fiasco whereby in this case, the scums will probably lose.

Lets look at the case of Perak.

To be honest, what was the benefit of having of all people Zambry Abdul Kader installed as MB?

I mean you could throw a ball down a lane in Madras and get somebody who is more likeable. Look at him - he is so pathetic he has to engage a fellow mamak (Paprukari) to do his media machine. Issues like orphaned children going to this house for free food are played upon - when it is so obvious not a single kid was bothered to even look at Zambry. They all were looking at the food.

You see Tian Chua is admitting he was rushing to Mersing. You cannot rush on this road? Was the driver under pressure to drive fast?

These are questions - I think which are very relevant. Road traffic accidents kill a lot of people every year. And yesterday it claimed the life of Private Mohd Salleh.

Now some of you may say -well its fate.
No its not fate.
Its the law we drive safely. I do it out of responsibility. I am actually quite a slow driver. So many times I see all these Mercs overtake my Beemer and these guys are stepping on the gas. Dont these guys consider the risk of their actions?

Morally Tian Chua has just been totally oblvious to the suffering he had caused the family and the fiancee of Private Salleh. Thats the issue isn't it. Private Salleh is a nobody. We don't care about what happens to him. The greater good is more important.

IF that is the case - then lets say it out openly.

But for me, Private Salleh deserved the right to live, the right to marry his fiancée and the right to have his family. He may not be the most important person in the world to you and me, but right now there are people grieving over his death.

And I will do my part in remembering him in this posting.

Tian Chua is not one of them.

He fails to meet the decency test and he should resign immediately.

Anwar Ibrahim should explain whether he was in the car or not.

I will not dilute his memory like what The Unspinners and Parpukari is doing by claiming political points - which I think is very low class. KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 — Suspended police Commissoner Datuk Ramli Yusoff has been acquitted of three corruption charges by the Sessions Court here.
Judge M Gunalan ruled today that the prosecution had failed to prove a prima facie case against Ramli, who was the Commercial Crimes Investigations Department (CCID) chief when he was charged and suspended from service in 2007.

He was charged with failing to declare ownership of 20,000 Telekom Malaysia Berhad shares, 154,000 Permaju Industries Berhad shares and interest in two office properties worth RM1,032,840.
Ramli, 56, was alleged to have committed the offences at the office of the then Anti-Corruption Agency’s deputy public prosecutor in Putrajaya on Sept 17, 2007.
The CCID supremo had also been charged separately in the Kota Kinabalu Sessions court for allegedly using police aircraft to view two pieces of property in which his real estate company had an interest.
That case, too, ended in an acquittal for Ramli when, on July 27 of last year, Sessions Court Judge Supang Lian said: “The prosecution failed to prove a prima facie case and the accused deserves to be acquitted and discharged.’’

Well to be honest I got a bit of stinging sensation reading Dato Sak's latest column. In Rembau Times, I had actually had a bit more free time - so I'd be the first to admit the quality of the stories there were far superior. Some stories took like 3-4 hours to write and pen down. Right now, most of the stories (bashing you know who) can be done in like 45 mins.

Its more of stress relief. Yeah - and its rubbish. Yup yup,, I do agree.

Ok, lets digress a bit - hypothetically if I had a lot of time, what would I want to write about.

Lets make a list

The truth behind the Malaysian Economy: This actually is something I feel is just overlooked. Few actually knows what does it mean to say we aim for the economy to grow by 6%. Does it mean anything? Well interestingly the answer is not so direct. If the economy is heavily interlinked and the money "moves" quickly, then really what we have is like a set of interconnected gears - and the 6% growth we get is more due to the money just moving from pocket to goods. People aren't really better off. The second issue is something to do with the Price Level. Last yr, the price level crashed significantly at the Producer level, but is that because our goods and services cannot sustain pricing premiums? (thats a bit more complex to understand). The last issue is this entire discussion on the subsidy. Last year it amounted to RM 24 billion. Our Government spends more than it earns - 1MPM6 says we are on the hook for RM 522 billion. This cannot go on forever. But in the same breath, if we kill the susbsidy, we destroy the economy. Its a "diluah mati emak, ditelan mati bapak" scenario
Whats the entire world financial system? Why is it we can go from boom to bust in a matter of months? Why are economic cycles so errartic? Why is it an event in America can affect Malaysia? Does then Greece affect Malaysia to? What are subprime mortgages (I had done that on Padedoh a couple of years back)? What are derivatives? Is the fact that the outstanding notional interest rate derivatives amounting to USD 200 trillion (yes thats trillion) mean anything? Is it good or bad?

Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar wants politicians and the Johor civil service to buck up and serve the people, failing which they will be booted out.

The Johor ruler stressed that this was not a “Santa Claus” government and wanted everybody in the state administration to work hard and produce results.

“They must buck up and if they cannot, then they must get out. I am fair to everyone (Opposition or ruling government).

New era in Johor: Sultan Ibrahim expecting everyone in the state administration to work hard and produce results.

“Even to the present government, I tell them to buck up and shape up,” he said, adding that he had not wanted to voice out previously out of respect for his late father.

However, now as the new Johor ruler, Sultan Ibrahim said he wanted to speak his mind and give suggestions.

“This is a new millennium. A new era and as a new Sultan, I expect a lot of changes in my state,” he said during an exclusive interview at Istana Pasir Pelangi here recently.

Sultan Ibrahim did not mince his words when he said several state executive councillors were not performing up to expectations.

“All these people were appointed during my late father’s time. I have a lot of respect for my father but now, I am the Sultan and I expect a lot of changes,” he said, singling out the tourism sector as one where there had been “zero effort” to promote arts and crafts in Johor.

Sultan Ibrahim pointed out that state exco members should come up with new ideas to improve tourism in the state, suggesting that a survey be carried out to see how this could be done.

Among his first decrees to bring about changes and development in Johor, is the directive that all state government agencies give detailed briefings on matters relating to the administration and finance of their respective departments.

“In short, I want to know everything and nothing must be hidden from me,” he said, reminding the agencies not to give false reports as he had informers in every nook and corner.

Sultan Ibrahim said the first briefing would be from Majlis Agama Islam Johor and he expected them to provide him with figures on their spending of zakat money, collection, those who had yet to pay and religious schools’ curriculum.

He said once he had finished with the agencies in Johor Baru, he would move on to the districts and get briefings from all levels, including district officers and the village headmen.

“I will question them and if I suspect something amiss, they will be in for a royal shelling. I want everyone to always be on their toes,” he said, adding that he had also directed some agencies to be audited.

He said he would also give ideas and views on ways to better the public delivery system during these sessions.

Wengers Comment:

Well what can I say except "Daulat Tuanku". What HRH the Sultan of Johor is saying is very very good indeed. He makes it clear that he does not want to be told lies and wants the truth and nothing but the truth.

This shows a character of empowerment through information. HRH understands that there is no gain in telling lies. But why do people lie all the time? Well - they do so because they want to cover up their short comings. However, if we are truthful, we can alert the respective partners to certain issues and bite the bullet once, solve the problem and get on with it.

His comment on the lack of effort on promoting Johor's arts and craft should surely be a stinging rebuke to those holding the tourism portfolio. I would totally agree, from a tourist point of view, its only Johor Bahru and the golf courses that get heavily promoted. There is nothing like the sort in Negeri, where there are homestays, arts and crafts and preservation of the Minangkabau culture - both in terms of architecture and culture.

This kind of desire to know the truth and not be satisfied with surface and superficial answers flies smack in the face of certain elements of the right wing fringe element whom are completely ignorant on almost every single issue. Take for example MV Augusta - the right wing bloggers are completely ignorant on the fact that the firm was in Bankruptcy the moment Tun paid RM 300 million for its worthless equity, the fact that Gevi SpA was an SPV with links not to Pak Lah, but instead to the ex owner of MV Augusta, the fact that MV had huge loans with Deustche Bank, the fact that even the legendary Harley Davidson, could not turn around MV Augusta, and declared a near total write down of their investment.

So I do hope that those who scream blue murder and potray themselves as the only defenders of the monarchy get the message. HRH, the Sultan of Johor, is through listening to all these pretty stories. The truth is what HRH wants.

Now what surprises me the most is that the common picture given to all and sundry was that the Johor Public Service is supposed to be par excallence. Coupled with this is the heavy involvement of Johor SEDC in various business ventures. To date, I have heard good news about them - its not the most conclusive, as really I have had little in interest in the state and affairs of Johor per se. Johor reminds me of Big Dog, and I don't really like Big Dog, so I generally have not much desire to dig deeper.

I can only see two things. Number 1, the state is doing well and Tuanku wants to push them harder. Number 2, there are some things below the surface which Tuanku knows of and had been keeping silent, but now will seek swift solution of those issues.

Either way - congrats to Johor for having a Sultan that means business.

Recently Tepuk Bersulam, a real ace writer, correctly surmized that Parpukari's allegiance and loyalty can be bought easily, perhaps as low as a plate of nasi kandar. I wish to encourage you to read his article for a complete run down of the events and controversy of this Bear Hug and why it shows that even the neutrals think Parpu's a bona fide "tree hugger."

Sensing the heat of the attack Parpu instructed his minnion Anti Kayjay to dispute the allegation. But I have to take off my hat to Anti Kayjay, he did a 2 in 1, which is whilst he as usual condemned KJ, he left a little sting in the tail, claiming that Parpu was forced into a hug much the same way Saiful Bukhari claims he was forced into being sodomized.

What secret message is Anti Kayjay trying to convey?

Does Parpu have a code word?

Is he a closet ....?

I think you have to read between the lines on this. Hats off to Anti Kayjay.

Truth is Parpu was not forced even though as he now wants to spin it that way. Even his own minnions don't believe it, equating Parpus line of defence as that of a victim screaming sodomy once the perpetrator says CIFUT.

But look closely. Parpu genuinenly wanted to hug KJ.

In item A, we see Dato Rocky mocking Parpu as Parpu is hugging KJ
In B, we see Parpu blushing as he vigorously tries to evade the teasing. You can see this on school playgrounds every day. I dont need to explain
In C, we see Parpus fat hands grasping tightly KJ's waist. It is so tight that all his webbed fingers are spread out and Parpu grips tightly even though he is leaning the other way to evade the teasing by Rocky
In D, we see the look of disgust by onlookers. Parpu has made a name for himself bashing KJ.

Its clear now, all he wanted was a bit of attention.

Insert name here, I don't mean to one-up you [just read your post], but this may come across that way...

I am currently taking L2 without the knowledge of my employer. I am, in fact, keeping it from them as something I'm pursuing on my own, because it's not needed for my current job. My current job is client facing [retail finance WOOO] and as far as higher designations go, the CFP is far more commonly pursued. In fact, I know of one person in my side of the organization who has the CFA [got it before transitioning to client-facing], but he also has his CFP. The CFA would probably raise eyebrows from my colleagues, in the sense of alerting management that I probably didn't intend to stay in my current job/track.

As such, the time and money I spend on the exam are my own. I didn't get [nor did I expect] a complimentary nod from colleagues or any check reimbursing my registration fees or schweser texts. My friends and family were stoked for me [not to mention my own pride in the achievement] when I passed, but that's about it.

I sort of picture myself as a finance Clark Kent/superman type. By day, I'm mild-mannered, boring Clark Kent. But at night, I go home, crack open my books, AND BECOME SUPERMAN.

Oh, except instead of flying around and saving people, I weep bitterly and try to comprehend L2 FSA.

World War II was a bloody war. It was started when Adolf Hitler rammed his Panzer division into Poland. The policy of appeasement towards the Nazis favoured by the then British Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain backfired spectacularly. 1 year after that, the entire European landmass descended into bloody conflict, and the France itself fell to the Nazis in just 6 months.

A similar situation happened in Malaysian politics. Pak Lah had tried the higher ground in not directly confronting Tun Dr. Mahathir, and for that he paid dearly. Dr. Mahathir's Panzers and Luftwaffe division pounded Pak Lah day and day out and directly contributed to the historic election results of the Opposition in which 5 states fell. Pak Lah resigned soon after.

While the war was raging in Europe, the United States of America (Wenger J. Khairy) had a policy of non involvement. Though morally supporting the British, the USA did not want to get dragged into a war with the Nazis.

All this changed on the morning of December 7, 1941. A cowardly attack by the Japanese (Mahahthirists) resulted on the U.S Pacific Fleet was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Wenger then declared war on the Axis Powers!

The initial months in 1942 (2008 - early 2009) saw the Nazis and their Japanese allies score some huge victories. However, the tide turned in the Battle of Midway (1942). It is widely accepted as the turning point in World War II. Even though both sides suffered losses, the Japanese lost 4 aircraft carriers, which they could not replenish. They never recovered from this strategic loss.

Or in other words, KJ won the Ketua Pemuda contest.

And the bloodiest conflict was when Allies wanted to take Iwo Jima.

This involved conquering the Twitter space and making sure the enemys attacks were blunted. And it was indeed bloody as a 7 day campaign was launched with tactical support from the blogs and on Facebook. The aim was to engage the enemy in cave to cave combat until he was completely extinguished.

The IwoJima battle was immortalized by Joe Rosenthal's photograph of the raising of the U.S. flag on top of the 166 m (540 Mount Suribachi by five Marines and one Navy Corpsman. The photograph records the second flag-raising on the mountain, which took place on the fifth day of the 35-day battle. The picture became the iconic image of the battle and has been heavily reproduced.
This famous photograph has been seen by millions and is immortalized in the Arlington National Cemetry

Soon afterwards the Allies proceeded to drop the atom bomb on Japan. Japan was left totally devastated. The United States prevailed once again.

Peace was then restored.

Does anyone know the real story about proton - MV Augusta/Cagiva/Husky and GEVI-SpA?

And who is GEVI-SpA? From all the info I can gather, they are a company that didn't exist until they purchased MV Augusta.

Are MVs and Cagiva selling well like Husky is?

Did Proton get some technology they wanted and then dumped the company? Or, is there some kind of handshake deal that we'll sell this company back to you once we've cleared the debt?

The recent ownership history of these brands is interesting, but doesn't make sense. Proton spent millions buying a company laden with debt and then turns around and sells it one year later for 1 Euro to a company that no one knows anything about. Something is up. I want to know more.

They are an investment Banking Firm, or at least that is all I was able to find.

I am sure the original interest was in the engineering that the Motorcycle concern had but with import and export reg's that tightened up on Autos, Proton was put in a position to "stop the bleeding".

The 1 Euro figure was only "ceremonial", in fact Gevi SpA assumed massive Debt.

I'm well aware of that.

And I read the threads many months ago before I bought my Husky. No, I'm not concerned at all about the future of Husky. I'm wondering if anyone knows any more now that 8 mos have passed.

Proton didn't put the company up for bid. They just sold it and seemingly rather quietly. MV has been in bankrutpcy protection for years - you can't just sell a company that is in bankrupty protection to just anyone. It has to be someone with relevant experience. Courts and debtors have to approve it. Investment bankers? hum. I'd like to know more.

Not Sure who GEVI Spa is but the company MV Agusta is no longer under bankruptcy protection that was removed in August 2004 after Proton had been in charge for 12months.A deal was struck to pay off the debt with a long term loans payed over 7 years.This was thrashed out in Italian courts.
The reason Proton pulled out was that they are in trouble in the Auto market & the CEO who arranged the Agusta deal was ousted.A change of management meant the a change of direction Proton wanted to offload any Non Core assets & as MV Agusta has debts etc.However reading between the lines I have heared that GEVI are some rich banking friends of Claudio Castiglioni the man still in charge of the company.He set up Cagiva bought Ducati, Husqvarna etc.However for their 1 Euro they basically got 35 million Euro which Proton had invested into the company to get it up & running again.You can see the Castiglioni & GEVI saw what was happening at Proton & manouvered a quick get out for Proton. Proton were under big pressure as they were making a losses as a car maker & with Agusta unlikely to make any decent profit for a few years.Basically for GEVI had a nice sweetner of 10's millions of Euros.If that investment money stayed in the company then the debt should be improved vastly by now.
However for me I think the MV Agusta company needs fresh new management & marketing people.More marketing money & fresh ideas need to be made in forging the company forward.Like the complete change which happened to KTM when they went bust in 1991-92.The new Husky bikes has seen great investment & they have a fantastic product but they need to constantly push & develop new product variations accessiories etc Like KTM has a huge practical accessory catalogue.

YES. This is what I want to know the fine details about. Someone write a book or something! I understand the CEO change at Proton and I understand that it is sometimes more valuable to have an asset off of your books. But from what I've read, even with the debt, MV was still worth 10s of millions.

I agree with you partially. Husky could really use a fresh marketing team. But the management in place are the ones that some how got the company back and with a big bundle of cash. The same team are responsible for the bikes today and I believe they can't be beat. Fresh marketing would be nice, but keep the leadership.

The "GEVI" company sounds like it was created for this transaction and also owns Cagiva and Husqvarna. No sure who makes up/leads GEVI since little info is available from my searches.

It also clearly shows that Malaysia is the worst in the region, with a drop of 66% of FDI flows in 2009. This is worse than India (drop of 42%), worse than Indonesia (drop of 36%), worse than Singapore (drop of 20%), it is even worse than Thailand (drop of 54%), when in fact Thailand was rocked by street demonstrations, 2 changes in Government and a whole slew of political unrest.

But I do not blame Dato Mukriz.

We know what Dato Mukhriz capability is. We cannot expect miracles, when we set such a low base for him. What can we honestly expect from a man who openly wishes "Good Morning" to Parpu.

Nothing. Nothing much at all.

But to all those concerned, this drop in FDI is very bad for the economic growth. Without this FDI, we lack fresh capital and more important fresh know how to diversify our economic base and create jobs for tomorrow. This money that comes from overseas also comes with the technical expertise and management skill that we can learn from. We need not pay RM 560 million and assume a further RM 400 million in contingent liabilities to achieve this technology transfer.

But why aren't investors coming? What is the reason? Is it because of Mukhriz? Is it because Tun Dr Mahathir lambasted the West at a gathering of the worlds most important business leaders here in Malaysia ?

The reason is Khairy.

Without Khairy in the Cabinet, we can forget to expect any growth in FDI. Investors were so eager to pump in billions of dollars into the economy after KJ won the KP race but were shocked when he was left out of the cabinet.

They were extremely disappointed and proceeded to place their money elsewhere.

But we look forward to the day when KJ can enter into the Cabinet, and be given the proper post and position befitting a man of his stature, because I can tell you, billions of US dollars will flow in, as investors want a leader who is unparalleled in global appeal, smart, educated, and well trained in economics and finance.

Investors want KJ.

Kadang kadang mereka begitu ghairah dengan launagan tersebut sehingga lupa asal usul diri masing masing, Akan tetapi, kalau kita mendakwa diri kita berjuang untuk "bangsa" dan pada masa yang sama sering kali menghina kaum Cina misalnya, nasib siapakah yang bakal dibela?

Ini kerana kita sedar sektor swasta dikuasai oleh orang Cina. Pelaburaan dalam negeri dikuasai orang Cina jugak. Pada saat Petronas, Maybank, Sime Darby dan GLC lain mengembangkan sayapnya ke luar negara, maka siapa yang melabur untuk membangunkan sektor dalam negari?

Maka tidak hairanlah di tahun 2009, negara mengalami pengeluaraan modal sebanyak RM 80 billion sedangkan negara Thailand, mengalami pelaburaan dalam negara sebanyak RM 10 billion. Ini semua adalah fakta yang patut diberi penekanan.

Peluang pekerjaan baru hanyalah di sektor Swasta

Maka kalau hanyalah segelintir para usahawan swasta yang masih mengembangi bizness masing masing dan sekali gus mewujudkan peluang pekerjaan yang baru, adakah ianya pendekataan yang tepat untuk memanggil mereka dengan ungkapan KKK? Kerana merekalah yang akan menilai samada hendak menggaji adik kita yang baru mendapat ijazah. Kalau nak mengharap peluang pekerjaan dari kerajaan, tak payahlah. Perbelanjaan untuk menyeleraskan gaji kakitangan awam dah melebihi RM 40 billion setahun sedangkan kerajaan berdepan dengan defisit yang amat teruk. Lebih lebih lagi kerajaan sekarang cuba sedaya upaya untuk meringankan perbelanjaan operasi. Maka secara logik, peluang baru di sektor kerajaan amatlah kurang sekali berdasarkan permintaan. Maka tak hairanlah untuk satu kekosangan kita mendapat beribu-ribu permohonan.

Tetapi keadaan sebegini tidak wujud di sektor swasta. Namun, kalau kita sering mengangkat bloggers kuno sebegini sebagai jurucakap rasmi orang Melayu, kita tak payahlah nak mengharap mereka untuk menolong kita. Kerana manusia ada maruah masing - masing, kalau kita nak langgar maruah mereka, mereka akan bertindak balas dengan cara mereka tersendiri.

Ini jelas berbeza dengan semangat keserdahanaan yang terbuku dalam naluri KJ.Dia amat memahami konsep diatas, dan saya berani berhujah, kalau adik anda ingin mendapat kerja di syarikat swasta, tulis terang terang, Saya Sayang Khairy (SSK). Para usahawan sudah paham, hanya YB Khairylah yang disegani sebagai pemimpin yang cukup bertauliah, kerana dia mengutarakan pendapat yang bertanggung jawab dan bukan jenis yang mengambil kesempataan dengan mengungkit semangat perkaumaan. Nyata peluang adik anda akan lebih cerah!

Duo face cohabitation charge

KUALA LUMPUR: A taxi driver who has been charged with abusing his girlfriend’s daughter to death will also be charged in the Syariah Court with cohabiting with the woman.

Police plan to refer the 28-year-old man and possibly the child’s 25-year-old mother to the Selangor Islamic Religious Council for further action.

Hulu Selangor deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Bakhtiar Rashid said initial investigations revealed that the unmarried couple had been in a relationship for six years.

Their relationship produced a child out of wedlock who is 18 months old now.

“The woman has yet to get a divorce from her husband, but they have been living like a married couple,” he told Bernama here yesterday.

Her husband has been an inmate at the Sungai Buloh Prison since 2006.

DSP Bakhtiar said the suspect had been remanded for seven days until March 4 and police would be applying for an extension.

He said the suspect had also tested positive for drug abuse.

Syafia Humairah Sahari, three, is believed to have been abused to death by the taxi driver at their home in Kampung Batu 30 in Ulu Yam Lama, Batang Kali, on Thursday.

Family members of the woman claimed the child’s body from the morgue at 1.30pm and buried the toddler at the Kuang Muslim cemetery in Sungai Buloh.

In Kuala Lumpur, Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun as saying that welfare officers would investigate the competency of the woman and her partner as parents before deciding whether to seek temporary custody of their 18-month-old child.

What people require really is a second chance.

Several months ago, Dnightcaller, decided that he will not subscribe to this notion that we as members of society are unable to solve problems. He contacted myself, and together with the support of a lot of people, including those who hate you - approximately RM 3,000 was raised for an orphaned child.

As to what happened after that - I have no idea. And I am actually pissed about it - there is a duty to perhaps to do a follow up story, to find out what actually happened, is she better off or not.

We hope we get a good answer, but it is possible that we may get an answer we don't quiet like, yet it is our duty to report the truth. There is always a process of fine tuning.

If a group of bloggers - and this includes folk like Dnightcaller, Rocky, Apanama2020, Zorro,Dato Sak, Aspan Alias, etc,etc, some of whose identity is a closely guarded state secret can work this thing out, I think surely more can be done by the leader of the most important wing in national politics.

Its about time we drop this idea of balancing the right wing agenda vs. a liberal agenda because to be honest, each group has a point of view which makes it difficult to see the "correct way." After all - what is the end result? Either the right wing has its way, or the liberals have their way.

Either way - nothing good is going to happen if a story like this can appear on national newspaper and all the Deputy Minister in charge of Women, Family and Community Development can do is to initiate an investigation.

The system is broken - but it can be fixed, either within the Government or via an NGO (eg. Yayasan Budi Penyanang).

Past attempts to do anything has proven to melepaskan batuk ditangga, because primarily people do not start with a plan. Ask your staff, what was done in the background to make sure B-S-R could achieve its target - there was a lot of planning. There was marketing. There was execution.

All we had to do was to appeal to the better senses of a whole gamut of "online personalities" and through their connection with their individual reader base, go on to elicit donation.

That was our problem definition and our execution. We defined the problem in a manner in which there was a solution. Chew Mei Fun's angle that the only response to this is to initiate further investigation is definitely not acceptable.

The least is to highlight this deficiency in your blog with your angle on how the state/public can offer a second chance programme, perhaps in combination with private sector, what kind of opportunities e.g. agriculture work, that can be given so that those who want a way out of a messy situation can find a way out.

Mississauga is the 6th largest city in Canada. Unlike in Malaysia, Canadian cities have to develop themselves using their own resources. There is no promise of development projects like what is practised over here - there they will pay for their own.

The mayor of Mississauga is one Hazel McCallion. She has been serving as mayor since 1978 and is 88 years old and is doing a fine job.

Her style of leadership is very similar to the leadership we enjoyed before Dr Mahathir came into power. We had many luminaries , a clean judiciary and a great respect internationally.

Economically, her city is doing great. They are debt free where else we have RM 522,000,000,000,000 worth of debt due to the massive bailouts and crony capitalism practised by Dr. Mahathir for 22 years.

I believe Pak Lah tried to solve this problem, but was unsuccessful. The effects of this massive debts, used to bailout friends, families and cronies has resulted in the cutting back of programmes like the food subsidy for MRSM, increased cost of living, destruction of the Ringgit's purchasing power and a lowered standard of living.

This was becaused Dr Mahathir had 0 regard for the future generation. He wanted to preserve his power today. No wonder he is so hated by many of the younger people, especially those with families.

However 22 years after Dr M's cultural revolution, our leaders are of the level of Khir Toyo. With the execption of a few, that is the level of leadership - variants of Khir Toyo.

Pencacai yang bodoh, penakut dan tidak bermaruah

Para pencacai Dr Mahathir sering tergolong kepada mereka yang tidak pandai dan cukup bodoh. Lebih lebih lagi mereka ni penakut dan tidak bermaruah. Biar saya buktikan/

Kita sudah tahu selok belok berkenaan penjualaan MV Augusta dan bagaimana kepimipinanan Dr Mahathir telah tergamak untuk membeli sebuah syarikat yang hampir muflis dengan harga yang begitu tinggi. Maka untuk menyelematkan Proton daripada terus menanggung beban hutang MV Augusta yang melebihi aset tunai (Cash asset), ianya dijual dengan harga RM 4, dengan syarat {roton sama sekali tidak lagi dibebani dengan hutang yang ditanggung oleh MV Augusta.

Lebih lebih lagi, pegangan Proton hanyalah 51%, baki 49% dipegang orang Itali. Tetapi kalau ada apa-apa tindakaan untuk memungut hutang MV Augusta yang bernilai beratus ratus juta ringgit, yang kena tanggung adalah Proton. Ni konsep senang - semua orang tahu apa yan dimaksudkan dengan unlimited liability berkenaan syarikat persendiraan.

Secara kebetulaan, syarikat MV Augusta berjaya dijual kepada Harley dan BMW. Kerana undang-undang GAAP , Harley Davidson dipaksa memberi tahu dengan jelas prestasi pelaburaannya dalam MV Augusta. Bagi BMW, ianya masih samar-samar kerana pelaburaan dalam MV Augusta tidak di senarai secara berasingaan. Tetapi dalam bab Harley Davidson, ianya cukup jelas - itulah kehendak GAAP yang mementingkan konsep keterbukaan dan ketelusaan, konsep yang tidak disenangi oleh pihak pencacai diatas.

Dan prestasi pelaburaan dalam MV Augusta adalah teruk sama sekali. Di beli di tahun 2008, dalam tahun 2009 syarikat Harley mengkatogerikan pelaburaan mereka dengan istilah "Loss from Discontinued Operation." Ini bermaksud MV Augusta akan dijual . Period. Bukan mereka menanggung kerugiaan semasa, bermaksud mungkin ianya akan pulih; isitlah Discontiuned Operation bermaksud cerai talak tiga.

Dengan ketelusaan GAAP (bukan pariah bernama GAP yang suka cakap bohong) maka kita boleh lihat dengan mata kita sendiri, kerugiaannya yang ditanggung oleh Harley Davidson amat besar sekali, malah melebihi RM 500 juta. Harga saham RM 340 juta, so bermaksud bukan sahaja nilai saham adalah 0, lebih teruk lagi, Harley juga mengalami kerugiaan dari segi modal semasa.

Semua orang yang celik perakauanan dan kewangaan paham benda macam ni. Hanya worang bodoh akan berhujah kononya dengan "keteraaan" Tengku Mahaleel, yang lebih pandai dari pengursaan syarikat Harley Davidson, maka Proton boleh mendapat pulangaan yang cukup baik dalam pelaburaan mereka dalam MV Augusta. Kononya, frame dan injin MV Augusta boleh diguna pakai untuk membikin kereta berjenama untuk kegunaan bandar.

Mungkin mereka jenis bodoh, bahlul dan tak paham - apa kelebihaan injin MV Augusta? Adakahnya lebih efisin? Mana datanya? Kepala otak hang-
Kata boleh bikin kereta yang cukup ringan. Beuk macam ni tak paham apa yang dimaksudkan dengan FEM (Finite Element Analysis). Kaedah FEM nilah yang kena digunakkan untuk mereka struktur kereta. Strutukur yang digunapakai untuk motosikal berbeza dengan kereta berbeza dengan kapal terbang. Setiap struktur ada kebaikkan dan kekurangaan masing-masing. Tiada strutukr yang paling baik - kalau struktur tu ringan sangat, ianya mungkin akan menghadapi kerosakkan yang teruk ketika terjadi kemalangaan. Kalau berat sangat, ianya memerlukan inijn berkuasa tinggi dan memakan minyak seperti Parpukari minum air toid.

Kita semua tahu - ni logik. Adakah MV Augusta mempunyai patent dalam teknologi logam? Kalau tidak - maksudnya there is no advantage. Period.

Tetapi pencacai masih tidak mahu mengalah. Masih nak kata bahawa Gevi SpA ni adalah berkait rapat dengan KJ. Masih binggung.

Dia syarikat yang Public Listed di Itali. Saya berhitung yang dialah si pemungut hutang bagi MV Augusta - maka senang dia nak membuat "restrukturing". Tapi kita kena jual kepada dia, kerana kalau tidak kita terkena badi kerana mesti membayar hutang beratus ratus juta. Pembeli MV Augusta iaitu Harley Davidson pun terkena badi kerana enggan belajar dari biznesman Melayu. Dia pi beli dan dia terus rugi.

So semuanya jelas. Dari kita kehilangaan RM 1 billion, kita rugi RM 560 juta. Kita rugi pun kerana Tun tak tahu macam mana nak menghitung nilai sesebuah syarikat. Sudah buat salah, dia pi menyalahkan Pak Lah. Lepas tu dia kononya mendakwa MV Augusta tu dah cukup kuat kerana terbaca cerita di Robb Ripot, sedangkan syarikat Harley Davidson (itulah the "Hog" dalam cerite Robb Ripot) sudah nak jual syarikat ni.
